Services

What we do

Watertight homes can offer a variety of services to maintain, and keep, your home in good, weatherproof condition.

Wall Ties

What are wall ties ?

Cavity wall ties are metal strips which are designed to bond, the outer and inner walls of a house, together.

Sometimes the ties deteriorate, due to rust or corrosion, and the bond, between the wall layers, weakens, causing the inner and outer layers to bow away from each other.

This can be a dangerous situation and requires immediate action to save the wall from collapsing.

How would we fit new wall ties ?

The new cavity wall ties are made from stainless steel and are inserted into the brickwork, through drilled holes, or by removing individual bricks, at set intervals.

The new wall ties are secured to the inner and outer wall using polyester or epoxy resin.

What about the original corroded ties ?

The original cavity wall ties have to be isolated from the outer leaf in order to prevent them from corroding any further and causing more damage.

The isolation works are carried out by locating the original wall ties with a specially calibrated metal detector, opening up the mortar joints at the tie location area, and then physically removing or encapsulating the tie ends.

Roofing

The roof is one of the main reasons why we build houses. “To put a roof ove our heads” and keep out the weather. Most roofs will last for many decades with little maintenance.

If however, a tile becomes dislodged or broken, then water leaks in and can damage the interior decorations, and fittings, of your home.

Arrange for a periodic check to be done, of your roof, looking for signs of dislodged or cracked tiles, cracking in bitumenised surfaces, interior wet patches, discoloured plaster ceilings etc. All indications that your roof may need repairing or replacing.

Guttering

Our specialists can assess and repair your guttering. We can also replace your old guttering with uPVC or Wood, for a long and maintenance-free life. Call 0800 037 3605 for expert advice.

Woodworm

Timber treatments are carried out to the structural timbers of properties that are infested with wood-boring insects such as woodworm or from wet rot.

The treatment is usually by spraying of insecticidal liquid onto the affected timbers.

If the infestation is severe, then replacement of the timbers may be necessary.

The materials used are:

  • Environmentally safe.
  • Very effective.
  • Long lasting.
  • Fully Guaranteed.

Damp

How can I prevent rising damp?

Our team of trained anti-damp specialists can carry out full surveys on the property and diagnose any causes of the damp.

If rising damp is the problem then the extent of the problem will be located using electronic moisture meters. We would then expose the masonry or brick work by removing all wall coverings.

Pressure injection of a special liquid membrane is then carried out, along the original damp proofing course through drilled injection holes, to put in place a new damp proof course.

After completion, all rubbish would be removed. Wall surfaces (plaster etc.) would be replaced leaving your wall and property as good as new.

Pointing

Many walls suffer from broken or eroded mortar. This can weaken a wall and make it look weathered, and allow rainwater to seep into the fabric of your house. We offer a first-class repointing service to restore your walls to their original strength, water resistance and beauty.

Dry and Wet Rot

Rot can be very destructive to timbers and wall fabric.

The rot can creep up the fabric of the house from the cellar/ground floor, to the roof, if left untreated. Treatment is by injection and spraying of anti-fungal preparations.

Plastering

Plastering work, to a high quality, by our experienced plasterers.

Any size job undertaken.

If repairs are done to existing plasterwork we take care that your floors and existing decorations are kept as clean as possible.
